SUMMARY:2 Suffolk Historians – Edmund Farrar & Charles Partridge by Sarah Doig & Neil Langridge
DESCRIPTION:The Reverend Farrar as well as being a vicar in the Botesdale area had an interest in recording it’s history taking many photographs that are now of historical interest. Charles Partridge a resident of Stowmarket had similar interests and did much family history research. One of his most notable achievements was transcribing the early parish registers for every parish in the county as well as transcribing the memorial inscriptions in every churchyard! He spent over 10 years in the colonial service in Nigeria in the early 1900s. Farrar and Partridge were friends and collaborated from the 1890s. \n\n\n\nReverend Edmund Farrar\n\n\n\nCharles Partridge

SUMMARY:"In the Fields of Frost and Snow" by Hexachordia
DESCRIPTION:The early music trio Hexachordia (www.hexachordia.com) presents a programme of mirth and merriment for the festive season\, revealing what Christmas and New Year was like for folk at all levels of society in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. \nFeaturing Hexachordia’s trademark blend of instrumental music\, song and narrative\, they will bring to life the winter season of times gone by. The trio will play a range of authentic copies of old instruments including the gittern\, vielle\, crumhorn\, lute\, viol\, recorder and bagpipes. Many of today’s seasonal carols have their origins in the Medieval and Tudor eras\, and so even if the instruments Hexachordia plays them on may be unfamiliar\, some of the tunes will be known to many.   \nThe group will also show how some of the traditions associated with the festive season go back many centuries. “In the Fields in Frost and Snow” will appeal both to those new to early music\, as well as to audiences with a well-established love of this beautiful\, timeless music.

SUMMARY:Charlie and the Dig by Charlie Haylock
DESCRIPTION:This is an intriguing and sometimes humorous look behind-the-scenes in the making of the Netflix film “The Dig” . . . a film based on a novel with the same title about the famous Sutton Hoo burial ship and the people involved. Charlie will explain how a potential “scam” email from “The Dig” producer\, turned out to be real\, and followed by a phone call from Ralph Fiennes. Charlie will show how Ralph Fiennes\, who played Basil Brown\, and the other “Suffolk” actors learnt their Suffolk accent  . . . and not sound like West Country pirates ! Charlie will also explain the extreme lengths Ralph Fiennes took\, not only to play Basil Brown . . . but to become Basil Brown.
