Pags

At the time of writing (June 2022) it is assumed this is ‘pages’.

From the 1511 will of Robert Kebyll the elder of Saxton hamlet to his son Robert a parcel of land named Pags, along with a close named Brysetts (this may have been in the area of todays Poplar Farm,  or more precisely the fields known as Kents farm.

1769 in assocation with Brisetts, messuage –  occupier  Arthur & John Denny, owner John Rust previously Palmers.

 

In the 1840 tithe apportionments, the arable fields of Upper Pages (tm 1 / 11a 0r 19p) and Lower Pages (part of tm2 / 3a 3r 33p) are owned by Sir Charles Tyrell but occupied by Robert Steggall. Robert Steggall owns a cottage further along Saxham Street (tm 40)  but this is occupied by Thomas Pyman and others.
