Table tennis
Table tennis began in the B.B Hut (since demolished) .
Peter List was caretaker of the village hall and ran the table tennis club for forty years 1959-2000. There were 5 tables. They charged Juniors 3d a night and Seniors 6d a night. Peter ran the Stowmarket Championship, there were 4 divisions, 39 teams, 4 in a team.

In 1970 Stowupland Community Council replaced Stowupland’s more traditional Flower Show and Fete with a week of fun events that the whole village could take part in. As well as everyone having fun a goal was to raise funds for a planned recreational area surrounding the Village Hall.
