The following story was published in a 2011 edition of Telstar. It was written by a local resident, John Hill. As well as telling us of his scary experience in crossing Thorny Green  it is of interest in reminding us how many things have changed since the middle of the 20th century e.g. ‘Pea Soupers’, smoking in cinemas, cycling to Stowmarket and leaving bikes at Ivan Codds.
