1885 (Whites) Robert Baker was a coachman

In 1803, Sarah Baker (1784 – 1864)married George Pike (1783 – 1864) in Creeting St Peter. at some point they moved into Wren Cottage (344) next door to Belvedere. George Pike was living there with unnamed others in 1840.  George died in January 1864 whilst Sarah died in December 1864.

11/10/1844. Jeremiah Baker (age 50) is decribed as a farming man who died from hemorrhage of the illiac vessels  which were ruptured by the kick of a horse. {Stowmarket LHG archive, data collated by Steve Williams}.

1868 – 3 pieces of land formerly surrendered for the use of Edmund Baker and his wife Dorothy, land lying between lands of John Sicklemore on the north, and Pratt to the North and East. previously surrendered to John Jortin from 1837 {Deeds of Crown Farm copied by Ena Carter}.

He was killed in action and is commemorated Pier and Face 12D and 13A Thieval Memorial Somme.

His parents were Edgar and Betsy Baker, in the 1901 census he had 3  brothers and 4 sisters.

In 1911 at age 15 he is working on his parent’s farm, Bakers farm in Saxham Street.

In 1917 Major  Baker, a son of E. Baker is the occupier of Poplar ?Spyvee Farm in Saxham Street

reeport on the 1933 funeral of Edgar Baker

In 1933 the Free Press & Post reported the funeral of Edgar Baker, father of Ephraim. For a time he had lived at Poplar Spyvees Farm and then at Oak Farm. Two of his sons Major and Stanley were present as were their wives. His eldest son Jesse had become a poultry dealer.

Edgar’s parents were from Mendlesham but Edgar had moved his family to Saxham Street in the early 1900′
