Belvedere,Margaret Catchpole's family home (tm344)

Members of the catchpole family lived in this stowupland house for over 150 years. Tracing their family history can cuase problems because the road that the house stood on has changes its name through the decades. now the A1120, but sometimes Pitman Road (1841 census), Main Road, Stonham Road, Mendelsham Road, even Saxham Street.

 

 

Originally a farmhouse, at some point, prior to the tithe apportionments , it was divided into 2 homes

  •  No 344: the owner of cottage  was John Burch and the occupier Geo Pike and others comprising )a 2r 32p
  • No 345 he owner of cottage &garden was Thos Prentice with occupier Robert Kerry, comprising 0a 1r 15p

In the 1850s it was owned by Chas Bircham. but the Catchpoles had moved in.
