‘All we gather of this manor is that it belonged to John Tyrell who died 7th Sept 1538, and that it passed to his son and heir, John Tyrell’ {ECA from Coppinger Suffolk Manors Vol V1, p237}

‘“Cardens” – contraction of “the Cardinal’s” – piece of ground near Regent street which once belonged to Wolsey (now remembered by Cardinal Street.

A man living in 1844 in Stowupland named Wolsey claimed to be a descendant of Wolsey’s uncle (Wolsey died in 1530) {ECA, Hollinsworth, p 106}
