John was Stowupland’s village bobby around the 1970’s living in Deepland House, which now bears a plaque the OLD POLICE HOUSE. He and his wife subsequently moved to France and then Ireland. As well as serving Stowupland as a policemen he was Telstar’s editor for  a time, and chair of Stowupland parish council and chair of Stowmarket Football club
