In 1709 Robert Roper is named as the occupier of the 27 acres of bricetts and Pages

In the 18th century a John Roper was occupier of land in Kents’s Farm, Saxham Street, the land owner was John Palmer

1804 farm occupied by John Roper was to be sold or let. It comprised a farm house and a tenement divided into 2 cottages and had 89 acres, 1 rood and 33 perches. It was situated ‘on a gradual descent to Stowmarket which was described as having ‘one of the best corn markets in the kingdom.’
