Cuthbert

In the 19th century Thomas Cuthbert (b.1809) and his wife Elizabeth (b. 1818) were farming at Elm Farm, on the corner of Mill Street and Stowupland Green.

From the 1881 census, Thomas and his wife Elizabeth were living at Elm Farm with 49 year old daughter Emily (b.1832). They had a dairy maid Mary C. Brame ( b. 1861), a granddaughter Ellen (b. 1864) and a 13 year old groom Robert Kerry (b. 1868).

In 1859 Thomas found an old Tudor warrant for the arrest of Richard Keeble hidden behind a beam in his chimney.
