A messuage & tenement referred to in the 1445 will of William Awstyn of Thorney Hamlet. His will stated that his wife Margery, daughter Joan Coldhakeld and son Robert were ‘to live in his messuage by the will of the lord & to hold his house there & to have their food & vestment while living there after they have ceased to live there messuage to be sold & proceeds to be disposed for the health of my soul & my parents & my benefactors.’
