From the executors account of Mr James Dent we know that Oak Cottage was sold in 1959 for £1,000 incurring legal costs for the sale of £26 10s and estate agent fees to Woodward & Woodward of £37 1s 9d.

James had built a large workshop in the garden to house all the variety of tools he needed for the many trades he worked in, he was reportedly a farmers boy, a thatcher, a malster, a carpenter, a wheelwright, a ladder maker , abuilder, butcher, poultryman and sweep.
