Other Ways to Learn

Stowupland opened its Elementary school in the 1860s, before that some children attended school in Stowmarket or received some education from learning in Sunday Schools. Some children were home tutored.

The East Anglian Daily Times for 26 September 1877 carreid an advetisement from Mrs Stearn (Sheepcote Hall) for a lady governess for her 4 children.

At the start of the 20th century some older children and adults attended Stowupland Evening School. The classes were held in the primary school.

The Stowmarket Weekly Post on 18 April 1907 carried a list of prize winners of Stowupland Evening School classes. Classes were in Freehand and model drawing or  Gardening.
