Rose Cottage, Saxham Street

In 2011 the road adjacent to Rose Cottage suffered serious flooding. The home owner had lived there for 80 years but had never known his garden or the adjacent Drift Way to flood.

This report is interesting as tells us that up to the mid 20th century Rose Cottage was thatched. The Leek family had owned Stowupland service station/garage, in addition they were builders and cottage gardeners.
Before mains water was laid onto Saxham Street a communal water pump was located here.
