Evans, George Ewart
Evans has written many books and articles recording old farming ways in Suffolk, preserving memories that would otherwise have been lost. He lived for a while in Needham Market before moving to Blaxhall in the 1950’s The Museum of East Anglian Life has a room dedicated to him in the Abbotts Hall {NL}.

His most well known book is The History of Stowmarket, 1844. In 2002 a new edition was published, edited by Mike Durrant: Imaginaire, Stowmarket, 2002)Whilst mainly about Stowmarket, Stowupland’s past does get mentioned. On our pages it is referenced simply as Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth was Stowupland’s first vicar and it was through his hard work and vision that stowupland’s church, Holy Trinity,came to be built.
