In 1833 Kents (later part of the fields of Poplar Farm, Saxham Street) is in the occupation of Samuel Bird, it then goes to Candler Bird and on his death Candler Turner Bird.

In the 1851 census Ben Bird, age 64 of Gipping Road is a farmer of 35 acres, employing 1 man.

 From the 1855 rate book he has a house and land owned by  C.Tyrell, and land & a barn owned by Gipping Feoffes. Both are in Gipping Road.

Bird, John Alfred Charles (b.1870)

According to British Army Service records, a John Bird (born Stowupland in 1870) joined the Royal Artillery in 1888.
