Robert and Elizabeth Boby, died 1910

Robert Boby was born in 1818 at the Ashes, Stowmarket, he married Elizabeth King. They lived at Columbine Hall for over 50 years before moving to The Chestnuts, Forward Green. They both died in 1910, Elizabeth predeceasing her husband by 4 months.

The Boby family are propably best known for their association with Columbine Hall.

Robert Boby (b.1819 – d. 1910) married Elizabeth King of Stowmarket ( b. 1822 – d.1910) on December 23rd, 1845. They had 9 children

Emily

Emily never married. In 1902 she moved to her parents and sister Elizabeth to The Chestnuts in Earl Stonham.

John (b 1847 – d. 1933).

He married Susannah Ellen (Minnie) at Groton on 31 October 1872. She was the only daughter of Walter Strutt of Groton Place.

She married Wm Boulter, a miller from Stowmarket.

Elizabeth (Libby)

Libby never married but moved with Emily and their parents to Earl Stonham in 1902. Libby and Emily were named in 1904 (Whites) as poultry farmers. in the 1940s they went to live with their neice Jessie Tagg in Oxford before going into a home

m. 29th October 1874 Jessie Ruth Adner at Park Chapel, Camden town. Their daughter Jessie married twice: Sydney James and Aubrey Tagg. Jessie left us some interesting Memories of a Childhood at Columbine Hall in the late 19th century .

died Nov 21st 1916 in Los Angelos, U.S.A.

1797, this is included because of the reference to John Boby of Stowupland, at present no other details are known.

In his will of 1815 John Boby  bequeathed Hill Farm or Tithe Farm to his son Robert Boby, then in the occupation of John Boby’s widowed daughter Elizabeth Posford. John Boby died in 1817.

In 1828 John Boby owned lands of which 87 acres were arable.
