In July 1893 the Stowupland Highlanders quoits team played Creeting St. Peter in the grounds of Stowupland Hall., Stowupland won. Since then the game of Quoits was a regular event at the annual Stowupland Flower Show and Fete. The featured image is from the 1930s fete and the teams were competing for the Soames Trophy. In June, SLHG hosted a SLHC Focus On Day. The last time members of the SLHC had been invited to learn more about Stowupland had been 40 years previously. We shared some of our knowledge about Jack and Ena Carter, the Rev Hollingsworth, Telstar's history, and took our guests for a walk around Thorney Green so they could learn about its past and see how it is looked after today.…
