The above image is of Stowupland's pump house that stood on the village green for several decades. After being decommissioned by East Anglian water it continued to serve the village as a changing room for Stowupland Football teams, more than that we don't have any details in our archives. Remember the tiny coin that was known as a farthing. Its relevance to Stowupland's history is explained in our Newsletter 26.Like many rural communities local people relied on unmade pathways that crossed fields. Leslie Brame

Latest Update 17

The above image shows Leslie Albert Brame, in the late 1930s. Brame is an often encountered surname in Stowupland's Archives, they appear to have had very diverse backgrounds.Perhaps surprisingly, being the son of a carpenter, Leslie was one of few of his generation from Stowupland to gain a Bachelor of Arts Degree as the country prepared itself for WW2.
