Tom Dewing

In the 1920s Tom Dewing was a senior teacher at the Stowupland Elementary School He lived in Barn Cottages and was one of the first to bring the wireless receiver to the village.

Mr Dewing spent many hours coaching the young Leslie Brame so that he stood a good chance of passing the scholarship exam to gain entrance to the secondary school at Stowmarket. in the event food poisoning nearly scuppered his chances but he was successful.
