In His memoirs, ‘As I Remember It,’ the Rev Leslie Brame introduced us to his neighbour, Rosie Nunn.

She had been born in 1864/5 as Rose Brame, to Frederick Brame (b.1821 from Earl Stonham) and Rose Brame (b1 822 in Stowupland). she had 2 older brothers Henry and Frederick and 2 older sisters Amy and Mary.

In 1892 Rose married Jacob Nunn from Creeting St Mary. In 1911 they are living along Stonham Road. She is described as having been married 19 years and although she had given birth to 2 children neither are still living. One of her daughters, Ellen Brame died in 1898

soldier silhouetteJacob Nunn had been born in Creeting St Mary in the mid 1860s. In 1884  at age 21 he enlisted in the Royal Artillery. He returned to Stowupland and worked as a farm labourer.

In 1921 Rose ( or Rosanna) Nunn was employed as a caretaker at Stowupland Primary School

soldier silhouetteIn the 1917 Stowupland Roll of Honour  2 Nunn’s are named but insure if they are related. Driver William Nunn of the A.S.C and Corpl Joseph Nunn of the R.F.A. Joseph was in the Norfolk Regt by the end of 1917 he had been killed. His name is not included on the Stowupland War Memorial.
