In 1988 the house was listed as Grade II. Unfortunately by then many changes had been made, but the owner has  restored many of the original features. The front part of the house dates from the early 16th century and was most likely a farm in earlier times. Read more about Orchard House history from SLHG visit 2012

At the start of the 1900s it was home to Mr & Mrs Wilden and their 10 children. And it was farmed alongside Millgreen Farm.

1979 and 1983 Sale Details

In 1979 the property was put up for sale at £30,000, described as an attractive period cottage with 4 bedrooms and night storage heating. Four years later the asking price had more than doubled. It was offered with 1 1/2 acres and outbuildings, including a 20 foot long store room and a 60 by 30 foot barn and a workshop.
