Apologies that it has been a while since the last update, but we have been having fun and games with the internet. Hopefully all has been sorted now. See some images for how Stowupland has celebrated Christmas in the past.
We have had a couple of interesting talk since Update 34. In November some committee members shared their research into some crimes that had been commited by residents in the past and the punishments that were handed down by local judiciary. Examples ome can be found on the webiste in Mishaps and Misdeeds.
And our December meeting was very festive with a talk on Tudor Cookery by Kathleen Hallaway. She had very kindly provided a wide variety of sweet treats and subtleties cooked in the Tudor fashion and with ingredients avaiable to Tudor cooks. Despite not including any sugar they were delicious. kathleen has put a lot of effort into researching her subject and written a book with authentic recipies. She is donating the proceeds to the Mendlesham Armoury project.
Since the groups founding in 2011 we have had speakers on a number of topics, you can read more about the variety of topics we have learned about and get a taste of the places we have visited.
A member has donated several photos that her family have collected from the 1940s, including an interesting one showing a signpost along the B115. The sign post no longer exists and the road layout has changed.
The Burch family and their association with The Crown.
