For our June meeting we watched a film by local videographer Holly Brega. She has made a variety of videos but the one she shared with us told the story of Suffolk Land Army Girls and Suffolk Horses. If you get the chance to see it it is fascinating.
You can read a report of our June 2023 meeting (as published in July Telstar 366). We had a very interesting talk from Martin Cuthbert of Cotswold Archeology who undertook ‘The Thorney Road Dig’ on the land where the houses of Oak Farm Meadows now stand and brought along some artifacts they found. Neil added some interesting notes and a link to find out more about other ‘digs in Stowupland.
I have been busy trawling through our archives for material to take along to our August Archives Evening on August 2nd. Trying to decide what our members and visitors will find interesting, what might add to the stories of other folks archives without duplicating what other people are bringing along.
And on July 24th we will be attending Telstar’s 60th birthday celebrations. Telstar is Stowupland’s local magazine, by the people for the people. We will share with the village some of telstar’s history.
