To the East of Stowupland
In this section you will find what we know about fields between today’s Park Farm (tm 329), Water Run Farm (tm 189) and Poplar Farm.
On many paper maps of Stowupland, Saxham Street peters out before it reaches Grange Farm.
Before the first half of the 19th century, when Stowupland Hall (then Holy Trinity Church and the elementary school) were built people in Saxham Street must have felt remote from village life around The Green. If Stowupland is the uplands of Stowe, then Saxham Street is the Uplands of stowupland.
This first section will focus on the fields for which we have details at the northern end of Saxham Street. Commencing with the fields to the east of Saxham Street on the Mendlesham border.
Certainly for the last couple of centuries these fields are associated with today’s Poplar Farm
