Harwood family's link to Stowupland
Henry Fairfax Harwood owned Stowupland Hall from 1885 to 1926, but his main residence was Tuddenham Hall, Tuddenham St. Martin.
Thos Harwoord
In 1874 Thos Harwood replaces Issac Strutt at Stowupland Hall. He was oonly there for 10 years before it passed to Henry Fairfax Harwood.

He came to the hall in 1885 but apparently following the death of his fiance he could not bring himself to live there ( Information from family archives of the Carter family)

Although the writting is quite faded this document relates to land being enfranchised by Mr H.F. Harwood in 1892, i.e. 8 3/4 acres of land to Stowupland Hall, previously of John Claxton & formerly in the tenure of Thomas Goddard.
2 acres lying between Spoonman or probably Sparrows and Tuns
3 acres in a close called Tuns (Thorney)
3 roods in Colleys croft
1 acre and 1 rood abutting Broad Green
1 acre 3 roods of the tenement Thrandston in Sparshawk Croft.
Mr H.F. Harwood died in 1927. In a report of his memorial service at the Tacket Street Chapel he was described as ‘an uncompromising puritan of the old school, proud of his nonconformity ancestry., which he could trace back to General Fairfax, one of Cromwells’ mighty men.’
