Our thanks to Ena Carter’s granddaughter for passing over more documents that Ena had saved. Many have now been added to the appropriate pages of our website, and the rest have been filed away safely.
Whilst we already have a lot of material about Stowupland Flower Show and the building of the Village Hall, there were still many new gems amongst these save newspapers, posters and memorabilia which have added to our understanding.

We know Stowupland had had an Instrumental Society in the early 20th century but other than knowing that Arthur Bramhall was involved we knew little more. Now we have the names of some members and the instruments they played.

In the 1970s the SLHC organised a series of Local History lectures at Belstead House in Ipswich. Jack and Ena Carter seem to have attended most of these. We now have their notes on a weekend of lectures about ‘The Suffolk Road through the Centuries. Whilst of general interest there seems to be little directly relating to Stowupland so will be filed for later attention.
In the 1990s the Suffolk Local History Council published 3 volumes detailing the histories of all the Suffolk parishes. This was an incredible achievement to put together so much information and will also be filed for later attention.
